This Week Only!

We have had a wonderful anonymous person offer to match our fundraising efforts this week.  They have pledged to double whatever we raise up to $500!!!  So if you have not yet become a $5 Radical please consider doing so by clicking the link to the right.  If you are already a $5 radical please consider sharing our story with your friends and spreading the word on your blogs and facebook.  Thank you for helping us reach our goal and bring our son home!

Don't know what a $5 Radical is?  Read this post!

In other news:  We are NUMBER 10 on the infant boy list (Can I get a Whoo hoo?).  We are praying that the list will keep moving and that those ahead of us would quickly get court dates.  If you could pray about the court dates right now that would be so wonderful.  The wait for a court date has gotten very long (like 3-4 months from when referrals were received).  As hard as the waiting is now once we see that precious face waiting so long to hold him will be sooooo hard!

Also we are up to about 50 $5 radicals and have raised a total of $1397.12 (obviously many have given above the $5)  Each dollar is one step closer to our son!  Thank you to all who've given and will give!

Thanks for all your prayers!

Wanna Play A Game?

I'm a big fan of baby pools.  I couldn't find an "official" pool online so I'm creating my own Adoption Pool.  Here's what you do:

1.  Guess the baby's birthday!  We have requested a zero to six month old which means the birthday will likely fall somewhere between mid-July and early February.

2.  Guess our referral date!  Best guesses are somewhere between December and March.  If you're feeling especially pessimistic it could be later:)

Points:  This is one of those games that the lowest number of points wins.  So for each day away from the correct dates you are you will get +1point.  If you guess either date right you will gain -20 points.

Prize:  What's a game without a prize?!?!?  The winner will get special souvenir from Ethiopia!!!!  So be sure to sign your name!
So post a comment with your guess!  Ex.  Birthday July 31, 2010/Referral December 7, 2010

PS.  If you haven't already done so please encourage your friends to become $5 Radicals!

2 Months DTE

That's a two.  I realize it's stretch but if you look closely you will see it:)
Well month two felt longer than month one.  I think it's in part due to the fact that I was busy adjusting to the lack of movement on our list and the reality that our wait is more likely in the 6-7 month range:(  We still sit right around number 20 on the infant boy list.  I think this new two trip policy is really slowing things down.  Children cannot go home until their embassy clearance which can take 6-12 weeks.  Since the courts have been closed there are a ton of families waiting to pass court before they even enter the 6-12 week investigation.  So we wait.  While our waiting is hard the families waiting to go get their kids are the ones we really need to pray for.
An
Well, if you look back to our one month DTE you will notice that we went to a Phillies game.  They won and put themselves in first place.  In case you are not fortunate enough to be a Phillies fan I'll let you in on the giant news today:  Roy Halladay pitched a no-hitter in the playoffs!!!!!!!  That's a huge deal!

So what might happen on Nov. 6?  Maybe that's the day we'll have our Phillies win the World Series photo shoot:)

$5 Radical

So the book Radical has gotten so popular.  I haven't read it yet but I've browsed it and it has inspired my next fund-raising effort.  Without reading the book I will tell you that I feel that gentle nudging in my heart from God.  The one telling me to hold on to my hat because what I thought was stepping out was just a baby step in the right direction.  That God has something bigger than I imagined in mind.  I'm not sure exactly what that is (I have ideas but I'll keep them to myself for now, it'll keep you reading ;)

So how does this relate to fund-raising?  I'm going to ask you to do something ordinary that will radically change lives.  Can you give up a couple of cups of coffee this week or maybe a 1/2 gallon of your favorite ice-cream?  And instead can you click on our Paypal donate button and donate just $5?  Donating $5 may not seem like the kind of radical thing that the book talks about but for me, for my son, for my family that $5 will radically change our lives.  And can you do one more thing?  Can you tell your friends?  Can you send them our way?  Can you tell them that sometimes being radical can mean just giving up some junk food?

If 2000 people can become $5 radicals we will raise $10,000 and that is RADICAL!  I don't know 2000 people but I'm guessing if we spread the word we can all do something radical.  I'll be starting a group on facebook.  Look for it and please pass it on.  Like a chain letter without the curse ;)

Thank you!
